Awesome, reliable, easy to configure adjustable temperature and humidity controller
This is an awesome product. We live on a homestead, and thus, have cattle. Our milk-cow produces an incredible amount of milk, more than our small family of 9 can consume daily. Thus, my wife has become a milk byproduct aficionado, making cream, butter, cottage cheese, and best of all, many specialty cheeses. All of that said, to get to why we needed this device. She needed a large cheese cave and every cheese cave has particular temperature and humidity requirements. This device enabled me to dial in these factors perfectly with minimal effort. One set, it just turns on and off both the heater and humidifier based upon criteria that I was able to easily configure on the controller. I love this thing and it’s proven to be super reliable. Very pleased.
Easy to use
A pretty easy tool on controlling manual AC or dehumidifier
Pretty good!
We didn’t have a temperature and humidity controller at home before. Since I bought it, my kids like it very much. It’s easy to install and the display is beautiful. I’m still getting familiar with some of its functions. Overall, it’s pretty good
Only works for falling to set point – needs option to set for rising or falling
The unit is well built, but I find it totally confusing for my old brain. I’ve had other ALORAIR products in the past and they tend to be higher quality. I spent a while trying to figure it out until I read the sticker on the side that said it takes 3 minutes of set temp to turn on. The is excellent if you have something on a compressor. This level of hysteresis will keep stuff from flapping on and off. If the LED (not the display, but the little LED’s) are lit “on” the outlet has power.
Also, you can set the temp or humidity to “OFF” so it will use only temp or humidity of your choice.
So far so good, but my main issue is this only brings temperatures down. For example if you set it to 60deg it will turn the outlet on until the temperature is brought down to your set point. If you were trying to keep a greenhouse or a crawl space above a certain temp, you can not use it to raise temperatures, just lower. I guess its good for a crawl space fan, but its weird the it can only be set down to 60 degrees and not lower.
Humidity is similar. If you set it to 20% RH, it will stay on until the unit reaches that 20% RH. Good for lowering humidity via a dehumidifier or maybe outside air via a fan.
I think the one things that would make this a great product would be:
1. Have the lower temperature range extend a lot lower than 60 F.
2. Have an option for an external probe.
3. ** Have a selector so you can select it to either rising or falling temp/humidity. Right now it only cools and lowers humidity (falling).
4. Extra bonus would be an external probe that you could put outside your crawl space and if the temp or humidity were lower than the crawl space it would be worthwhile turning the fan on, otherwise why do the opposite.
This is a must to control HVAC systems without an expensive repair bill
